Job Summary
School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. Key Responsibilities:
Design and simulate O-Band quantum dot hybrid silicon laser structures for backreflection-resilient operation
Develop and optimize silicon plasma dispersive devices for on-chip optical isolation
Fabricate heterogeneous lithium tantalate photonic isolators using cleanroom microfabrication processes
Characterize optical devices including laser performance isolation ratio and backreflection measurements
Analyze experimental data and develop models to understand backreflection mitigation mechanisms
Prepare technical reports journal publications and conference presentations
Collaborate with project partners and contribute to project milestones and deliverables
Job Requirements:
PhD qualification degree in Electrical Engineering Photonics Physics Materials Science or related field
Experience in photonic device design fabrication or characterization is preferred
Familiarity with cleanroom fabrication processes for semiconductor or photonic devices
Good written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in optical/photonic simulation tools (e.g. Lumerical COMSOL RSoft or similar)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team environment
