Core Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Delivery Management
Lead and manage a team of SAP ABAP developers (internal and external) including task assignment performance coaching career development and capability building.
Coordinate work dispatch and priorities to ensure timely delivery of development requests enhancements and support tasks aligned with business needs.
Foster a collaborative high-performance development culture with clear expectations and accountability.
Technical Direction & Standards
Define implement document and enforce coding standards development best practices and quality guidelines across the team.
Conduct regular code reviews to maintain consistency performance and adherence to established standards.
Ensure technical solutions are scalable supportable and aligned with our ERP architecture and upgrade roadmap.
Development & Quality Assurance
Oversee all stages of the development lifecycle from requirements analysis and technical design through coding testing deployment and post-go-live support.
Champion quality through robust technical documentation unit testing performance tuning and automated/code-level quality checks.
Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with functional consultants business stakeholders and IT partners to translate business requirements into sound technical specifications and solutions.
Communicate progress risks and technical insights clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Continuous Improvement & Capability Building
Keep the team updated on the latest SAP development practices tools and technologies; drive training and knowledge-sharing activities.
Identify opportunities to improve development processes tools automation and team productivity.
Track specific KPIs/Metrics to quantify gains or improvements such as:
o On Time Delivery - % delivered on or before the committed date.
o First Pass Yield - % passing QA/UAT without rework
o Production Defect Rate - # of defects reported in production
o External vs. Internal Delivery Balance/Ratio
o Lead time per Change or Development item
ERP Strategy & Governance Responsibilities
Co-own the ERP technical roadmap and contribute to medium- and long-term planning for SAP ECC evolution and transition toward S/4HANA.
Define and enforce a Clean Core strategy ensuring custom developments follow SAP-recommended extensibility principles.
Drive remediation plans for obsolete redundant or high-risk custom developments.
Ensure developments remain upgrade-safe testable and compliant with future S/4HANA conversion requirements.
Stay aligned with SAPs evolving product strategy including S/4HANA Assess the impact of SAP innovations and roadmap changes on existing and future developments.
Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term architectural sustainability.
Key Skills
Proven experience leading SAP ABAP development teams and delivering high-quality solutions within an SAP ECC or ERP environment.
Deep technical expertise in ABAP development including object-oriented ABAP performance optimization debugging and RICEFW objects.
Strong understanding of SAP development lifecycle transports code quality tools (e.g. ATC/SCI) and release management.
Experience working with cross-functional teams and large international organizations.
Excellent leadership communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to mentor and grow team capabilities through coaching and technical guidance.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Technology Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
Nice to Have: Experience with SAP S/4HANA Fiori/UI5 BTP and modern SAP extensibility models.

Experience
Minimum 10 years in ABAP development support application management
Proven experience partnering with product leaders to deliver ERP solutions and improvements
Experience managing AMS subcontractors or third-party service providers
Supervisory experience preferred
Background in global organizations with multi-Business Line structures
Familiarity with Microsoft Office365 and enterprise platforms
Experience in electrification systems industrial automation or related sectors is a plus
