About the Role

Ruah is committed to supporting the Western Australias Peer workforce. We recognise the unique and invaluable skillset Peer workers bring to clients. Peer Recovery Workers provide an understanding of the experience of living with a mental health challenge and assist people to connect feel validated and supported to strive for the recovery outcomes they hope to achieve. Whether it is supporting clients in the hospital waiting room or in the community we work as one Ruah with an aim to transform peoples lives. This is a full-time permanent position in the Stronger Ground team located in Northbridge with a client catchment area North of the city and is part of the Mental Health and Wellness department at Ruah. A Peer Recovery Workeris at the forefront of the organisation in providing client facing recovery support interventions. Supported by the Team Lead and Peer Lead you will play an important role in improving the health and social wellbeing housing and overall quality of life for clients maximising functional recovery self-management independence and participation in the community. This role is responsible for undertaking tasks around case management documentation referrals and appointments.

Who are we looking for

It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Lived experience of recovery from mental health and/or AOD challenges.
• Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision mission core values and the three guiding principles of the organisation
• Willingness to identify as a person with lived experience working in a peer support role.
• An understanding of peer work in a community setting.
• Personal goal planning skills that contribute to the achievement of client goals in line with the Model of Care.
• Skills in reflective practice and highly developed report writing using analytical reasoning.
• Openness to continuous quality improvement and learning in this role.
• A great attitude and commitment to your team colleagues clients and the organisation.
• Ability to engage with individuals within different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship
• Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team.
• Ability to model positive behaviours emotional maturity coping skills and resilience.
• Good interpersonal and effective communication skills.
• Understanding of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and client reporting system.
• Knowledge and understanding of diversity gender and social inclusion particularly Aboriginal culture.
