Position Description:
This position is for science instruction as a sixth and seventh grade Middle School Science Teacher. This includes curricular topics of Life Science chemistry Earth sciences and principles in sustainability. Responsible for teaching four sections of science as well as being a grade level advisor.
Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with department colleagues to maintain and refine an innovative and intellectually challenging Middle School science curriculum.
- Integrate scientific practices such as modeling data collection analysis experimentation and evidence-based reasoning.
- Design and implement inquiry-based hands-on lessons and activities that support grade-level learning goals.
- Successfully balance proactive planning with the flexibility to adapt to changing schedules.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Docs Sheets Slides Drive Gmail and Google Calendar) for curricular planning and effective delivery of daily lessons.
- Curate and incorporate real-world applications and cross-disciplinary connections to deepen understanding of course content.
- Create a safe inclusive and engaging classroom environment that facilitates learning and promotes curiosity collaboration and respect.
- Differentiate materials to align instruction within the department while appropriately scaffolding lessons to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Provide timely constructive feedback to students while collecting and using data to inform instruction and support student growth.
- Communicate promptly and effectively with students families and colleagues regarding student progress and learning goals.
- Support students social-emotional development and executive functioning skills.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance teaching and learning.
- Serve as an advisor or contribute to advisory programming as assigned.
- Participate actively in department meetings professional development committee opportunities and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a science focus have significant teaching experience at the middle school level skill for serving as a Middle School advisor and demonstrate a record of innovation and professional growth in a school setting. Advanced degrees are strongly encouraged; state certification is not required.
