We are looking for a motivated and experienced lead heavy equipment operator to join our team in assisting overseeing the maintenance and repair of roadways storm drainage systems and related street infrastructure.
Under the general supervision of the Town Street Supervisor you will be responsible for assisting in the management of town (Downtown Lemon Creek & Douglas) crew planning and scheduling projects inspecting work and ensuring compliance with safety youre ready to take the next step in your career and contribute to the ongoing success of our department we encourage you to apply!

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This is a full-time hourly position that normally works Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm but may be assigned an alternative schedule to meet seasonal operations needs with the expectation of work outside of these hours as needed. Your office would be located at 7100 Glacier Hwy Juneau AK 99801.
Typical Responsibilities
Senior Equipment Operators provide leadership and oversight for the Street Maintenance workforce focusing on maintenance operations snow removal and ice control activities. This role is responsible for assigning daily work tasks ensuring compliance with safety protocols and serving as the divisions safety officer.
Senior Equipment Operators also manage inventory and maintain accurate records for equipment parts tools and materials while monitoring equipment usage. They support management in scheduling personnel ensuring workforce accountability during daily operations and contributing to the development and implementation of the divisions training program.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
None
Experience:
Four (4) years of maintenance and/or construction experience in roadways bridges airport runways taxiways ramps and/or aprons with demonstrated ability to operate motor graders rotary snowplows backhoes excavators and bulldozers. This experience must have included on-site supervision and training of other operators.
Other:
A valid Class A State of Alaska Commercial Drivers License valid for vehicles equipped with air brakes and a Tanker (N) endorsement at time of application and for continued employment.
Certification as an ATSSA Flagger (or equivalent) within 6 months of appointment and for continued employment.
OSHA Requirements: This position may also require attendance at and certification (as available) in CPR First Aid and Confined Space Entrant and/or attendant within 18 months of appointment.
Special Note: *Initial appointment to all FMCSA positions requiring a CDL will be made conditionally pending: (1) receipt of verified negative results of pre-employment testing for controlled substances and (2) passing a 3-year drug & alcohol testing background check with previous DOT employers. Employees must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse and provide CBJ with paper and electronic consent for a full query of the drivers Clearinghouse record.
