Job Summary

Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a Project Manager who will work alongside lead engineers and account managers supporting transmission line engineering projects for various electric utility clients throughout the United States. The PM will be part of an established team within our Power Delivery Solutions (PDS) division. PDS provides consulting services to public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities for comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission substation and distribution projects nationwide.

This role is remote in nature but candidates should be located in either Texas or Colorado to be considered. This helps us serve the location-specific needs of our utility customers. Some regional travel may be involved (likely less than 20%).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Independently lead project teams to complete engineering designs of various sized electric infrastructure projects for electric utilities
  • Accept responsibility for overall project performance and reporting
  • Manage project costs schedule and scope within approved limits including the development of recovery plans when needed
  • Ensure contract compliance
  • Drive work products by coordinating and working with Engineering Leads and Managers to track and execute client deliverables
  • Ensure and document adherence to the quality control process
  • Interface directly with the client and internal management to solve issues and report progress costs schedule adherence and risks across a program of projects
  • Communicate with clients internal project teams multiple engineering disciplines functional leaders subcontractors and support personnel
  • Prepare bid documents; Develop cost estimates and responses to Requests for Proposal
  • Complete monthly invoices accruals and accounts receivable within prescribed time frames
  • Identify business development opportunities

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Business Finance or a closely related discipline is required
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant Project Management experience
  • Experience with project management software (e.g. Workfront MS Project P6)
  • Demonstrated experience managing and reporting project financial performance budgets proposals scopes and schedules
  • Must have the capability to plan organize direct and track technical efforts on project tasks
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to interact with customer representatives in an effective manner
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
  • Experience with MS Office Software (Word PowerPoint Excel)
  • Periodic travel (less than 2%); Candidates should possess a valid US drivers license
  • Some regional travel may be involved Candidates should be available as needed (likely less than 20% of the time)

Preferred:

  • PMP Certification
  • Experience as a project manager in engineering or engineering-adjacent setting(s) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with electric power infrastructure projects and knowledge of business issues associated with power delivery services
  • Experience working with US electric utilites
  • Demonstrated success with a team approach to the consulting business
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

The estimated pay range for this role is roughly 100-120k depending on the selected candidates qualifications.
