Mason PUD 3 is seeking a Power Line Crew Foreman to lead line crews in the safe and efficient completion of work under the direction of the Superintendent. This role is responsible for crew supervision equipment and vehicle care and the training and development of crew members. Successful candidates must be willing to live within 30 minutes travel time under normal conditions of their regularly assigned headquarters or live within the districts service territory.
Supervise and work in a positive atmosphere with a line crew and contractors engaged in the construction maintenance and operation of the PUDs overhead and underground transmission and distribution system.
Supervision includes the training development and evaluation of crew members including oversight of apprenticeship activities in accordance with PUD policies and procedures.
Provide direction training and oversight to ensure safe work practices in compliance with Washington State Electrical Workers Safety Rules.
Keep a record of time worked work accomplished materials and equipment used on each project.
Conduct a crew in such a manner that its members shall individually and collectively perform efficient work and service avoid waste or loss of tools materials time and manpower and use their best efforts to protect the property of the PUD and service its customers at all times.
As a working foreman perform duties of Journeyman Lineman when required.
Other duties as assigned (not to conflict with the collective bargaining agreement or State safety laws).
A working knowledge of all safety rules and regulations and a First Aid/CPR Certificate in accordance with the safety standards of the State of Washington.
Proficient knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity required in transmission distribution overhead and underground line construction and maintenance.
Knowledge of standard construction and maintenance practices and electrical power system operations (including circuits voltage classifications normal feeds etc.).
Ability to direct the work of others evaluate performance and function as a supervisory/management representative in carrying out PUD policies and procedures.
Ability to read and understand work sketches.
Strong judgement and problem solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to interact professionally with employees and the public.
A self-starter with the ability to plan and organize time efficiently and adapt to changes in industry practices.
Good written and verbal communications skills are needed in order to interact with PUD employees and customers and to be able to project a positive customer service attitude.
A qualified Journeyman Lineman with not less than five (5) years of experience as a Journeyman Lineman.
Accessibility for emergency call-out is required.
Have a valid Washington state class A commercial drivers license in accordance with RCW Title 46 and have a good driving record.
