Position Summary

The RN in the Recovery Room provides expert professional nursing care for the patient during the pre- and post-operative course. The RN assesses plans implements and evaluates the care of patients that are under the effects of anesthesia. The RN must have excellent observation skills critical thinking skills and be able to make quick and effective decisions.

Reports to: Director of Surgical Services

Essential Functions Additional Information

Patient Populations Served: Neonate Infant Early Childhood Late Childhood Adolescent Young Adult Middle Adult Older Adult.
Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic Clinical Insurance Financial Complete Medical Record.
Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present; may involve contact with patients blood body fluids or specimens.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing walking lifting/moving patients and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood and bodily fluids hazardous medications and latex.

Minimum Education

Graduate of an accredited/ approved school of nursing with an associates degree in nursing is required.
Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing is preferred.

Certifications/Licenses

A current North Carolina or compact stated Registered Nurse (RN) license is required upon hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required within 1 year of hire
