CNC Supervisor (Night Shift)

Reports to:

Deputy Operations Manager

Position Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Supervisor to lead and oversee our Night shift operation including CNC machining operations. This role is also responsible for ensuring production goals are met maintaining high-quality standards and optimizing workflow efficiency. The ideal candidate will have hands-on CNC experience strong leadership skills and a commitment to continuous improvement. The Supervisor will guide and support team members resolve issues and serve as the communication link between the shop floor and management.

Work Hours

2:30pm-1:30am Monday through Thursday

*Occasional Friday work required

Major Areas of Responsibility

Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Safety minded in all work activities; compliance with safety protocols and company policies lead safety initiatives; commitment to safe work habits maintaining workplace are organized aligned with 5S.
  • Supervise daily operations of the shift CNC machining including setup programming and production.
  • Lead train and mentor CNC machinists to ensure consistent performance and skill development.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust resources to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and provide technical support to the team.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to improve processes and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of production maintenance and employee performance.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Support employee onboarding training and overall development.
  • Address issues and resolve conflicts as they arise; manage disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and attendance records.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

This position requires the following essential knowledge skills and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill the role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in machining or manufacturing preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints using precision measuring tools
  • Strong understanding of machining operations including milling and turning.
  • Excellent leadership communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and standard manufacturing software tools.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming (e.g. G-code Mastercam etc.).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and production tracking software.
  • Knowledge of ISO or other quality management systems.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job the employee is required to talk and hear. This is a walking position for up to 10 hours per day on a concrete warehouse or factory floor. Ability to lift 40 or more pounds both overhead and at waist level. The position requires continuous moderate or occasional heavy physical activity due to lifting 16 to 21 aluminum extrusions onto a rolling cart for up to 10 hours per day. The employee is required to walk reach with arms and hands. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Exposure to intermediate/loud noise is expected when working in the manufacturing environment. The work environment is climate controlled.
