About Soul Search Records

Soul Search Records is an independent music company dedicated to developing artists expanding distribution channels and building sustainable revenue models across streaming merchandising licensing and partnerships. As the company scales we are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial strategy and operational excellence at the executive level.

Position Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for overseeing all financial operations strategic planning reporting compliance and long-term fiscal sustainability of Soul Search Records.

This leader will partner directly with the CEO and senior leadership to drive data-informed decision-making optimize revenue streams manage risk and support scalable growth within the music and entertainment industry.

This is not an entry-level role. The ideal candidate brings substantial financial leadership experience and a strong understanding of organizational growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Financial Leadership

• Develop and execute the companys financial strategy aligned with long-term growth objectives
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team
• Provide financial insights that inform investment expansion and operational decisions

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Lead budgeting forecasting and financial modeling initiatives
• Oversee revenue tracking across streaming licensing merchandise publishing and partnerships
• Analyze profitability by artist project and revenue channel
• Deliver clear and actionable financial reports to leadership

Financial Operations & Reporting

• Oversee preparation and accuracy of financial statements
• Ensure timely monthly quarterly and annual reporting
• Maintain internal controls and financial best practices
• Optimize accounting systems and financial workflows

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with federal state and industry-specific financial regulations
• Oversee tax strategy in partnership with external advisors
• Manage risk assessment and mitigation strategies

Cash Flow & Capital Management

• Monitor cash flow and liquidity planning
• Oversee capital allocation strategies
• Support fundraising investor relations or financing initiatives if applicable

Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Lead and develop finance team members or external partners
• Collaborate with operations marketing A&R and distribution teams
• Improve financial literacy and accountability across departments

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role (CFO VP of Finance Finance Director or equivalent)
• Strong expertise in financial planning budgeting forecasting and strategic modeling
• Demonstrated experience preparing and analyzing financial statements
• Advanced analytical and decision-making skills
• Deep understanding of fiscal management compliance and internal controls
• Experience leading financial operations in a growth-stage organization
• Strong executive communication and leadership capabilities
• Ability to operate effectively in a fully remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in music entertainment media or creative industries
• CPA designation or advanced degree in Finance Accounting Economics or Business (preferred but not mandatory)
• Experience with royalty accounting streaming revenue models or intellectual propertybased businesses
• Familiarity with scaling financial systems in entrepreneurial environments
