Acadia University is inviting applications for a full-time 5-month term Payroll Administrator. The University will consider applications from qualified Acadia employees who may be interested in a secondment opportunity subject to departmental approval. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable payroll and HR systems experience expand institutional knowledge and contribute to a key function supporting the Acadia community.

Acadias Department of Human Resources is looking for a Payroll Administrator to process payroll for both salary and hourly paid employees. As a key member of the payroll team you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely posting and payment of bi-weekly payroll functions while maintaining compliance with established payroll practices university policies applicable collective agreements applicable laws and regulatory requirements. Your attention to detail organizational skills and technical skills will be essential to your success.

You will work with the entire HR team departments across campus managers faculty staff and students; therefore this role requires strong interpersonal skills. You will communicate information clearly and concisely to both internal and external partners ensuring confidentiality.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Process end-to-end payrolls for a large employee base including data entry calculations and deductions while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Verify and reconcile time entry benefits and other payroll-related data to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure employee and payroll database is consistently accurate.
  • Address employee inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Prepare and distribute employee pay statements tax forms records of employment and other payroll-related documents in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with financial institutions CRA Service Canada and other external agencies as required.
  • Conduct regular audits and reconcile payroll records to maintain data integrity.
  • Generate query reports and provide payroll-related information to management as required.

What youll need

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary program in either business office administration or a related field.
  • Payroll knowledge and/or experience. National Payroll Institute (NPI) certification would be an asset.
  • Applicants must have strong technical abilities and be familiar with MS Office applications including Excel.
  • Experience working with Dayforce (HRIS/Payroll software) an asset.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • We are seeking candidates who have strong data entry skills with thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills are essential as is the ability to stay focused and on task.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to a high level of accuracy maintain confidentiality and work as part of a team.
