Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring an Actuary to support actuarial reserving and forecasting. This role is at the intersection of traditional actuarial practice and modern predictive this role the candidate will expand their knowledge of Blue Crosss reserving practices and loss analytics methodologies gain insight into key challenges and opportunities within our actuarial and reserving functions and apply advanced industry techniques to evaluate healthcare claim liabilities. The position also includes responsibilities related to predictive modeling supporting the development and enhancement of models that inform reserving forecasting and broader actuarial decisionmaking. This role contributes directly to the accuracy transparency and innovation of Blue Crosss financial insights while offering exposure to emerging tools and collaboration with external partners to shape the future of actuarial analytics.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of IBNR actuary experience an ASA designation and a strong background in statistical analysis work. This role requires healthcare industry experience particularly working with medical and claims data along with handsonexpertisein advanced programming and analytics including SQL R SAS and at least two years of advanced Python development. Experience creating clear impactful reporting using Power BI or similar visualization tools is essentialhasstrong communicationskills andproficiencyin Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint.

Your Responsibilities

• Research analyze and interpret actuarial and statistical data and provide technicalassistanceto other departments. This includesidentifyingissues to be researcheddeterminingaffected areas estimating theimpactand leading the resolution.

• Develop mathematical models in connection with other departments to predictimpactof proposed changes. May also be involved in the design of these models.

• Understand/interpret thefinancial impactof decisions made by retrieving and analyzing claim costsrevenueand/or other relevant data. Participate in the design and implementation of new products and system enhancements by providing data and recommendations toassistin evaluating the impact of the proposed benefitsystemor process changes.

• Responsible for divisional representation on corporate projects and may have leadership roles on these teams. Independently manage which may include directing other staff the retrieval and analysis of data on multiple tasks or projects with little or no management involvement.

• Act as a resource for other members of the department/division on business issues and maybe responsible fortraining and guidance of Actuarial support personnel or Analysts. Makes satisfactory progress according to the Actuarial Student Program guidelines.

• Other specific accountabilities as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5 years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work education transferable skills and military experience will be considered.

• ASA or above.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Excellent PC skills. Knowledge of data retrieval languages.

• Knowledge of BCBSMs databases or industry knowledge.

• High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bachelors degree.

• FSAstronglypreferred.

• MAAA strongly preferred.

• Proven experience building predictive models using Python.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively present IBNR findings and insights to executive leadership.

• Strong data science and programming background with at least 2 years of hands-on advanced programming with Python.

• Experience in healthcare including managingsubstantialIBNR across various segments.

• Healthcare industry experience particularly working with medical and claims data.
