This position performs case management and monitoring of people on parole released to the community from the Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) as well as those accepted for supervision under Interstate Compact Agreement (ICA). Officers will assist and manage their caseload in re-entry and transition to the community. This position is required to drive and travel on State addition this position performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
This is a safety-sensitive position which is defined as any job designated by an employer as a safety-sensitive position or any job that includes tasks or duties that the employer in good faith believes could affect the safety or health of the employee performing the task or others perA.R.S.23-493. This position is subject to the provisions of Department Order 522 Drug-Free Workplace.
Additional Requirements (for internal employees only):
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION Must receive a rating of meets expectations or better.
SUSPENSION An employee is ineligible to apply for a promotional opportunity during the one year period from the date the incident that caused the suspension occurred or the incident was reported by the employee whichever occurred last.
VOLUNTARY DEMOTIONS Employees accepting a voluntary demotion shall be required to remain in the classification/position requested for a period of at least two years before being considered for appointment to any other position. Voluntary demotion applicants must have an approved voluntary demotion memo on file with Central Promotional Register to be considered for a job offer. No job offers will be made without an approved voluntary demotion. The job offer will be made to the next available candidate.
DEMOTIONS (DISCIPLINARY) Any employee who has been demoted one level shall be ineligible to apply for a promotional opportunity for two years from the date of the demotion. If demoted more than one level the employee shall be ineligible to apply for a promotional opportunity for three years from the date of the demotion. A demotion received after the promotional process has started and prior to the promotion shall result in the permanent removal from that CPR. Once removed from a CPR for a demotion the applicant shall not be eligible to compete for a Correctional Officer Series position until two or three years depending on the number of levels demoted after the date of the demotion. The first day served of the demotion shall be considered the effective date of the demotion.
EDUCATIONAL STIPEND:
*Positions in this classification are eligible for an educational stipend: Associates Degree 2.5%; Bachelors Degree: 5%; Masters Degree or above: 7.5%. If you have completed one of these degrees submit the Education Supplement-Security form Education Supplement and documentation of your degree as noted on the form with your application. If eligible and appointed the stipend amount will be effective on the date of your appointment. Education requests submitted after the date of appointment are effective at the beginning of the pay period they are received in personnel. This stipend is subject to available funding and may be canceled at any time.
-Oversees offender case management in accordance with ADCRR policies; engages with staff law enforcement and the public; conducts crisis intervention behavior mentoring and redirection.
-Reviews offender history investigates sponsors and placements monitors release timelines conducts assessments interventions and processes case closures; conducts field contacts surveillance searches investigations and arrests.
-Writes summary reports of offender activity and progress investigative incidents release authorization reports and other Community Reentry and ADCRR departmental reports; writes emails and responds to email information inquiries; responds to telephone messages and completes phone calls.
-Researches and inputs data in Arizona Correctional Information System (ACIS) Community Reentry web-based case management system and other computer programs.
-Attends and actively participates in mandatory briefings/meetings staff training and departmental meetings; performs special projects and other duties as assigned by the supervisor and as appropriate to the assignment.
-Investigates violations prepares warrants ensures due process tracks warrant process and participates and testifies at Board of Executive Clemency (BOEC) and other court proceedings.
-Confers with supervisory staff to present discuss and resolve issues concerning offender case management.
-Collaborates and networks through business and community organizations and refers offenders for programming housing medical substance abuse sex offender employment and education services.
WORK CONDITIONS: Shift work; extended sitting; extensive reading and writing. Some light lifting with occasional heavy demands. May be exposed to hazards associated with security and guidance of inmates.

Preferred Bachelors or Masters Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field from an accredited college or university. Five or more years of any combination of work experience in criminal justice/corrections human services or social services is required with a focus on managing a caseload/case management practices or a leadership/supervisory position. If no case management/caseload experience seven or more years of professional experience is required.
