It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration Health Services Rehabilitation & Reentry Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!

Description of Work

Salary range: $31200.00-$51249.00

This is a position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury N.C. (Rowan County)

which is a Medium male prison facility housing 800 offenders.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Answering high volume phone calls to include external and internal calls and being able to

answer questions from external callers or be able to forward the call to the correct staff member.

Complete various data entry as assigned by the Warden and/or Administrative Officer

Performing clerical duties for Administrative Officer

Assisting with time entry

Navigating OPUS regarding offender records and assisting with preparations for audits and

inspections

Assisting administrative staff as needed

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Management Preferences:

Documented knowledge of office equipment and Microsoft office suites.

Documented telephone etiquette.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC02. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.

Minimum Education and Experience
