Key Responsibilities:
  • Gains an understanding of the fiduciary roles and responsibilities of acountytreasurersofficewhichoperatessimilar toa financialor bankinginstitution for local governments by managing and investing public fundsunder state law.

  • Conductsfieldworkatcountytreasurersofficesthroughout the State toexaminecompliance withtheUniform Accountingfor Arizona County Treasurers(UAMACT).

  • Examinesthe county treasurer officesinternal control frameworkwhichincludes:the control environmentrisk assessment internal control activities information and communication and monitoring withinacounty treasurers office.

  • Research best practices laws and regulations and other applicable resources related to the county treasurer offices under review.

  • Evaluates essential IT systems specifically for county treasurer offices financial systems.

  • Helpsmake impactful recommendations tocountytreasurersoffices to promote better government and make a positive difference.

  • Follows up on recommendations annually to examineprogress anddetermineif recommendations areimplemented.

Qualifications:
  • A bachelors degree in finance economics business business management or a related field isrequired.

  • Entry-level positions will involve training under senior examiners.

  • Strong interest in public service and improving State government.

  • Strong analytical abilities attention to detailproficiencywith computer software and excellent communication for interviewing personnel.

  • Prior experience with banking institutions internal audit functions or county treasurer operations (preferred).

  • Must have valid Arizona drivers license.
