Ambrose Avenue Group Practice is seeking to recruit a clinical pharmacy technician to join our supportive clinical team in general practice. This position can be offered on afull-time or part-time basis.
As a member of our established team which includes pharmacists technicians and administrative staff you will contribute to our medicine management program. You will receive support to complete the Primary Care Education Pathway through the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE).
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Conducting medication reviews for all our patients
- Supporting the reception and administration teams with complex medication queries.
- Supporting the GP partners on prescribing projects and cost/safety audits and actions.
- Managing patient prescriptions.
- Advising patients and healthcare professionals on medication-related queries.
- Developing our prescribing systems to ensure safe effective and efficient use.
- Minimising medication wastage.

To be eligible for this position you must have the following qualifications skills and experience:
- A diploma Level 3 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services and be a qualified and registered pharmacy technician.
- Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Experience as a qualified registered pharmacy technician in primary care community or hospital pharmacy settings.
- Proficiency in using electronic record systems and spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated commitment to learning through ongoing education training and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with a strong clinical knowledge base.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively multitask while managing frequent interruptions.
Ambrose Avenue Group Practice is a friendly long-established award-winning progressive GP practice. We are based over two surgery sites within 10 minutes of each other serving the population of Stanway and Prettygate in Colchester Essex.
We are a training practice and offer services to a population of over 14500 patients.The clinical team consists of eight GPs GP trainee four advanced nurse practitioners three nurses two healthcare assistants and various allied health professionals including GP assistant health and wellbeing coach clinical pharmacist pharmacy technicians care coordinator social prescriber and care advisor.
We hold monthly meetings and training sessions and have a diverse team of clinicians including first contact physio pharmacists ANP/NP care coordinator social prescriber health coach GP assistant and an award-winning team of mental health workers.
