Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work within a team that is responsible for the public and private debt and equity valuation covering $23bn of market value within the growing Private Credit Group and Business Development Company (BDC) Controllers team. They will be responsible for the price verification of public and private investments (primarily debt). The candidate will be responsible for various reporting and will have direct interaction with Partner / Managing Director level individuals in various teams across the firm. They will be responsible for investor regulatory and management reporting.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Oversight/Reporting of valuation for private debt and equity positions including ability to develop independent valuation models
  • Involvement in third party valuation processes
  • Oversight of monthly reconciliation of pricing and P&L to an external Fund Administrator
  • Regular interaction with Controllers management the Portfolio Management team and support areas such as Operations Technology Risk Legal Compliance and Investor Relations
  • Preparation of Valuation Committee and investor regulatory and management reporting
  • Ensure appropriate levels of control and independence are in place including the implementation of a SOX control framework
  • Involvement in external/internal audit review process

Experience / Skills:

  • Degree in Finance / Accounting CPA / CFA or MBA preferred
  • 6-10 years relevant work experience (public and / or private)
  • Comprehensive understanding of Private Equity and Private Debt valuations including in depth knowledge of market approach DCF and liquidation approach. Complex capital structure equity allocation (OPM) knowledge preferred
  • Strong understanding of the fixed income and equities markets and the alternative investment management industry
  • Strong knowledge of valuation related accounting disclosures (ASU 2011-4 ASC 820 etc).
  • Strong management and interpersonal (verbal and written communication) skills including experience presenting / communicating with senior managers
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Results driven and great multitasking skills

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this Jersey City New Jersey United States-based position is $100000-$250000. In addition you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
