This is a remote position.
We are seeking a senior-level specialist to lead the strategic assessment and architectural design of a large-scale data landscape. This is a full-time contract position with a daily rate available.
The role is primarily remote-based with English as the sole language requirement. The successful candidate will only be required to attend occasional onsite visits to Germany.
Responsibilities
Landscape Discovery: Perform comprehensive assessments of tenant applications to map data architectures flows and integration points while identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
Governance Framework: Develop and formalise a robust data governance framework covering ownership lifecycle management classification and compliance.
Quality & SLOs: Define data quality dimensions and document Service Level Objectives (SLOs) establishing monitoring mechanisms and accountability.
Architectural Design: Conceptualise scalable secure target architectures for the platform including storage solutions and processing frameworks.
Standardisation: Create and publish reference patterns and guardrails to ensure consistency and best practices across all tenant applications.
Documentation: Produce high-quality technical documentation and architectural decision logs that remain accessible and up-to-date.
Stakeholder Coordination: Organise and facilitate interactive workshops to validate concepts gather feedback and ensure alignment with various technical and business stakeholders.
Evolution: Monitor industry trends to proactively contribute to the platform roadmap and the continuous improvement of governance models.
Requirements
Expertise: Extensive experience in data architectures cloud-native environments and distributed systems.
Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of Relational (PostgreSQL) NoSQL (MongoDB Cassandra) Time series (InfluxDB) and Graph databases (Neo4j).
Infrastructure: Proven experience with Data Warehouse/Lake architectures and Messaging systems such as Apache Kafka.
Workflows: Familiarity with data processing tools such as Spark Dagster or Apache Airflow.
Security: Strong ability to specify architectural security best practices including encryption access control and data classification.
Engineering Background: A blend of hands-on engineering experience in DevSecOps toolchains with strong product ownership skills.
Communication: Ability to navigate the CAP theorem trade-offs with development teams and convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred: Understanding of Data Mesh principles and relevant cloud-native certifications.
Eligibility: Must have Residency in the EU EEC UK or Switzerland.
