Job Description:

Position Purpose

The Corps Mission Consultant is a territorial role that supports Salvation Army corps corps officers congregations and local communities during significant organizational transitions including mergers closures revitalization processes and annual officer moves. This role provides mediation facilitation and relational support helping leaders and communities navigate difficult conversations manage conflict address grief and loss and establish clear constructive pathways forward. As corps transitions affect both congregational life and the wider community this role supports divisions and corps in addressing these impacts thoughtfully ensuring transitions are carried out with clarity care and integrity.

The CM Consultant will assist corps and leaders in navigating complex transitions by providing skilled mediation structured facilitation and relational guidance that supports healthy decision-making reduces conflict acknowledge loss and helps communities move forward together.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead mediation and conflict resolution efforts as a neutral third party facilitating structured dialogue that restores communication builds shared understanding and achieves constructive outcomes.
  • Design and facilitate strategic conversations related to mergers closures revitalization and leadership transitions guiding stakeholders toward clarity and actionable next steps.
  • Support leaders in planning and navigating difficult conversations with confidence ensuring multiple perspectives are expressed respectfully and productively.
  • Guide corps and leadership teams through complex transition processes balancing operational realities with relational health and long-term mission impact.
  • Strengthen congregational integration during mergers or reconfigurations by fostering alignment trust and collaborative ministry direction.
  • Address the human and emotional dimensions of change by helping individuals and communities process loss uncertainty and new beginnings constructively.
  • Advise divisions and corps on community-facing communication strategies that preserve trust credibility and public witness during significant change.
  • Engage key stakeholdersincluding long-standing supporters partners and local leadersto sustain relationships and community confidence throughout transitions.
  • Provide consultation coaching and training to territorial and divisional leaders on mediation conflict management and effective change leadership practices.
  • Develop and share tools frameworks and best practices that strengthen organizational capacity for healthy transitions and conflict resolution across the territory.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized three-year post-secondary diploma or university degree in a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Formal training or certification in mediation conflict resolution coaching or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in mediation facilitation conflict resolution or organizational transition including supporting organizations or communities through restructuring or change.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of congregational dynamics community systems and the non-profit or faith-based organizational context.
  • Exhibit the ability to work effectively and calmly within complex emotionally charged environments while maintaining neutrality confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Apply excellent interpersonal listening and written/verbal communication skills to foster relational clarity and constructive outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively within established leadership structures as a strong team player with a mature professional approach and strong work ethic.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office 365 (Word Excel PowerPoint) proficiently to support documentation reporting and presentations.
  • Demonstrate exceptional self-motivation sound judgment and the ability to remain focused on mediation facilitation and transition support rather than operational decision-making.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $58477.54 to $73096.93 with a maximum of $87716.32.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
