JOB TITLE: Coordinator-Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)/RTI (Elementary & Secondary)

REPORTS TO: Director of School Improvement and Support

WAGE: Exempt

PAYGRADE: AI 3


PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Coordinator who serves as the district lead for Response to Intervention (RTI) provides districtwide leadership and coordination to ensure effective implementation of academic behavioral and social emotional intervention systems across all campuses. The coordinator supports schools in building internal capacity to implement and sustain high quality MTSS/RTI practices that increase academic achievement reduce disciplinary incidents and reduce dropout rates for all students. The coordinator monitors fidelity of MTSS and RTI implementation through data review progress -monitoring reports and campus visits.

Under the guidance of Director of School Improvement and Support and Director of Curriculum the Coordinator monitors refines and evaluates district-wide MTSS practices to ensure alignment with research based best practices student needs state law and federal requirements. The coordinator works collaboratively with School Improvement Curriculum and Instruction alongside Student Support Specialist (SSS) RTI Facilitators At Risk Counselors and/or At-Risk Associate Principals to ensure coordinated academic behavioral and social emotional supports for all students. The coordinator supports key district initiatives such as Credit Recovery Graduation Requirements Drop-Out Preventions Student Code of Conduct and the District Alternative Education Programs (DAEP). The coordinator ensures Child Find and MTSS pre-referral processes are implemented with fidelity to support early identification of students requiring academic or behavioral interventions and prevent inappropriate referrals to special education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Masters Degree from an accredited college/ university
  • At least 3 years experience in a campus administrative role or job-related experience
  • Knowledge of Board policies federal and state laws & regulations student services and operations

Preferred:

  • Mid-management or Principal certification
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws
  • Knowledge of special education laws
  • Knowledge of theTexas Education Code (TEC) Chapter 37- the statutes related to student disciplinelaw and order in public schools
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum instruction and assessment
  • Ability to build relationships and capacity with campus leadership
  • Strong leadership skills ability to coach teachers and campus administrators in the critical attributes of student behavior and classroom management
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students and their parents

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Academics

  • Compile and track student data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of analyzing issues ensuring compliance with procedures and/or monitoring program components of the Collaborative Student Support Program (CSSP).
  • Monitor At Risk identification and coding processes to ensure accuracy compliance with state and local compliance requirements and appropriate student intervention placement.
  • Conduct analysis of student performance data to provide guidance support and assistance to the Student Support Specialists Student Success Specialists (Dropout Prevention) and the Collaborative Student Support School-based Teams
  • Train and monitor the Student Support Specialists in the implementation of the adopted intervention tools.
  • Collaborate with the Directors of Curriculum and Content Specialists to support academic planning intervention alignment and instructional improvement efforts.
  • Facilitate regular training and professional development on MTSS and RTI processes including documentation protocols data analysis and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Provide training on the implementation of CSSP; conduct fidelity checks; and problem-solve with the Student Support Specialists.
  • Train and monitor the Student Success Specialists in the implementation of dropout prevention and recovery strategies and tools.
  • Performa all other duties as assigned

Behavior Management

  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of the Collaborative Student Support Process (CSSP) for students with behavioral needs. Work collaboratively with Behavior Specialists to support the components of the CSSP model to ensure services are provided monitored and evaluated at each level of the CSS Process in the area of student behavior.
  • Support campus and district administrators in matters related to student discipline/classroom management and the Student Code of Conduct to identify disproportionality among targeted student groups through MTSS protocol
  • Create and manage the DAEP process; along with facilitate the placements of students assigned to DAEP and/or Harris County JJAEP.
  • Monitor the implementation & fidelity of the campus-wide behavior management programs.
  • Collaborate with the districts Student Information System (SIS) department to monitor proper data entry and coding of students placed in the CSSP process the districts DAEP (Richey Academy) and/or JJAEP.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility standing prolonged sitting some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling. This position will also require both traveling within the district and state wide. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to interpret TEC and policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
