Roam Transit otherwise known as the Bow Valley Regional Transit Services Commission (BVRTSC) is a vital regional transit provider dedicated to offering sustainable reliable and accessible public transit throughout the Bow Valley connecting Banff Canmore and Lake Louise.
Roam is committed to supporting both residents and visitors by delivering year-round and seasonal transit services to those wishing to explore the Bow Valley region without the use of a private vehicle. The organization plays a critical role in enhancing mobility reducing environmental impact alleviating traffic congestion and improving the overall transit experience across the region.
As a Customer Experience specialist for Roam Transit you will report to the Customer Experience Supervisor and the Manager Communications and Customer Experience. You will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service to our patrons. We are looking for Bow Valley residents who are excited about the opportunity to connect with both locals and visitors. Your passion for the Bow Valley area will help our riders to explore and experience all that the area has to offer.
Position Summary:
As a Customer Experience Specialist you will engage with riders at our customer service desk transit hubs online in person and over the phone. You will provide trip planning support manage reservations and ensure seamless transit this role you will assist visitors in creating unique and memorable experiences while also assisting locals in connecting with everything that the Bow Valley has to offer.
Responsibilities:
- Consistently stay up to date with Roam Transit routes and be familiar with the Bow Valley region.
- Engage with riders at transit hubs sharing your knowledge about the area and Roam Transit services.
- Check passengers in for their reservations and assist drivers with loading and unloading of passengers.
- Provide excellent customer service to meet the needs and expectations of all BVRTSC customers and suppliers including in-person telephone and written communication.
- Assist customers in planning and booking their trips provide information about transit routes schedules fares and recommendations for local attractions and activities.
- Conduct over the counter product sales and record all product sales.
- Handle cash as per position requirement.
- Perform office opening and closing functions including cash and receipt balancing when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Confident interacting with visitors in person over the phone and via email.
- Cash handling and reporting.
- General office support duties.
- Previous customer service experience is an asset preferably in a tourism-related setting.
- Familiarity with the Roam public transit service is an asset.
- Experience resolving conflict and working with the public an asset.
Qualifications:
Education (minimum):
- High school diploma or GED an asset.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding people skills and ability to deal with conflict.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Outlook
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Highly organized.
- Knowledge of local area and popular attractions.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Other Requirements Conditions:
- Must be legally able to work in Canada (proof will be required).
- Must pass police security clearance (proof will be required).
- Must be available to work until October 12th 2026.
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings (as early as 6 a.m.) evenings (as late as 8.30 p.m.) weekends and holidays.
- Must be a resident of the Bow Valley area.
- Must be able to work outside.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $23.50 per hour
- Full Time seasonal position(s)
- Health spending account (after 30 days of employment).
