JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Trades Management Supervisor - Maintenance.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Refurbishment Construction and Execution is responsible for the planning scheduling and supervision of a team of Electrical and Control Technicians and Union Trades Supervisors performing refurbishments on hydroelectric generating units. Work involves the refurbishment and installation of equipment such as protection and control panels high voltage switchgear high voltage step-up transformers generators exciters current transformers (CTs) potential transformers (PTs) and capacitive voltage transformers (CVTs).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plan schedule and supervise a team of Electrical and Control Technicians and Union Trades Supervisors.
  • Oversee refurbishment projects on hydroelectric generating units.
  • Manage the installation and commissioning of protection and control panels.
  • Supervise work involving high voltage switchgear and step-up transformers.
  • Coordinate the refurbishment and installation of generators and exciters.
  • Oversee the installation of current transformers (CTs) potential transformers (PTs) and capacitive voltage transformers (CVTs).
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Provide leadership guidance and support to team members throughout all project phases.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a valid Red Seal Certificate (309A or 442A) with a minimum of 5 years experience as an industrial electrician or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years experience supervising Electrical and Control Technicians (Electricians) preferably within an Industrial &/or Construction Team.
  • Knowledge as an Electrical Engineer and/or as an Electrical Technician/Technologist considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience working on High Voltage Equipment (13.8KV to 230KV) such as; High Voltage Switchgear High Voltage Step Up Transformers Generators Exciters PTs CTs CVTs etc.
  • Familiarity with hydroelectric systems and experience in the construction and refurbishment of hydro units is an asset.
  • Proven ability to lead Electrical Technicians and to develop Resource Levelled Work Schedules Work Plans including Health & Safety (H&S) plans.
  • Willingness and ability to work shift schedules as required.
