This project is a collaborative effort between Dr. Kievit at ONPRC and Dr. Davidson at the Knight Cardiovascular Institute at OHSU. Studies will involve lab bench approaches to study banked adipose and cardiac tissues to study the reciprocal communication between the two organs. Future studies would involve in vivo and ex vivo imaging techniques to further investigate the role of obesity and diabetes in changes to cardiac function.
Successful candidates will have previous extensive experience in large animal models with a focus on cardiometabolic health. Additional skills would include knowledge or first-hand experience with bench techniques like protein and RNA isolations histology and advanced imaging techniques.
