Assistant Director Oklahoma Hillels

Role Overview

As the Assistant Director of Oklahoma Hillels you will play a pivotal role in shaping Jewish life for students across multiple campuses throughout the state. Working within a dynamic multi-campus system you will help advance strategic initiatives strengthen operations and elevate student engagement while supporting a growing and diverse Jewish student population.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead with independence and creativity while helping scale and deepen the impact of Oklahoma Hillels statewide reach. You will collaborate closely with professional staff student leaders trustees and community partners to foster vibrant pluralistic Jewish communitiesmeeting students where they are both geographically and personally.

In this multifaceted role you will help oversee daily operations supervise and mentor staff and student interns support strategic communications and provide counsel on key organizational priorities. Your ability to think strategically manage complexity and build meaningful relationships will be essential to ensuring cohesive high-quality Jewish life experiences across Oklahomas campuses.

What Youll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and partner to the Executive Director providing strategic insight on organizational priorities and statewide initiatives.
  • Support and help implement Oklahoma Hillels strategic plan across multiple campuses.
  • Identify opportunities for growth innovation and increased impact within a regional Hillel model.
  • Help ensure consistency of mission values and student experience across campuses while allowing for local campus culture.

Student Engagement and Programming

  • Collaborate with students to design and execute innovative pluralistic programs that resonate across diverse campus environments.
  • Create and implement strategic engagement plans to connect with Jewish students statewide including those on smaller or emerging campuses.
  • Steward Shabbat dinners holiday celebrations rituals and community-building experiences across multiple sites.
  • Empower student leaders to take ownership of programming and initiatives aligned with Hillels mission and values.

Supervision and Training

  • Supervise early-career staff supporting their professional growth within a multi-campus structure.
  • Oversee and mentor student interns across campuses providing training guidance and leadership development.
  • Coordinate intern recruitment onboarding and training processes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability creativity and collaboration among staff and interns.

Executive Support

  • Support the Executive Director in communicating with external stakeholders including Board members university partners community leaders and donors.
  • Support the Executive Director in managing priorities scheduling and preparation for meetings and presentations.
  • Assist with drafting reports communications and materials for internal and external audiences.

Administration and Operations

  • Support budgeting event logistics and communications across multiple campuses.
  • Coordinate with campus partners vendors and external service providers statewide.
  • Help ensure smooth operation of Hillel spaces and offices including vendor coordination and financial documentation support.
  • Implement best practices that enhance efficiency consistency and effectiveness across a regional organization.

Collaboration and Outreach

  • Help represent Oklahoma Hillels at campus events community gatherings and statewide meetings.
  • Build partnerships with campus organizations faith communities and student groups across Oklahoma.
  • Strengthen Hillels visibility and relationships on campuses and within local Jewish communities.

What Youve Accomplished

  • 25 years of professional experience in Hillel or a related Jewish experiential education field.
  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Significant engagement with Israel including familiarity with its culture history and contemporary realities as well as Jewish life beyond the U.S.
  • Demonstrated success in:
    • Developing implementing and evaluating programs.
    • Building pluralistic welcoming Jewish communities.
    • Mentoring and inspiring college-age students through relational and experiential education.
    • Managing multiple projects while maintaining strong attention to detail.
    • Building partnerships and networks across diverse stakeholders.
