The University of Louisiana at Lafayette New Iberia Research Center specializes in the breeding management and importation of a diverse range of nonhuman primate species and offers a broad range of diagnostic laboratory and human resources for the development and characterization of nonhuman primate models for applied and basic research aimed at promoting human quality of life.
Were looking for a Laboratory Technical Assistant (Animal Care)CPG Levels 13 to join our Facilities Management Department. The Animal Care Assistant provides essential support in a laboratory or research setting by performing a range of technical maintenance and clerical duties.

Job Duties and Other Information
- Job Duties:
As you progress through levels responsibilities will expand based on experience and this role you will:
- Assist in the preparation setup and cleanup of laboratory equipment tools and materials.
- Performs basic laboratory tests and procedures under supervision.
- Collect record and report laboratory data accurately.
- Clean sanitize and maintain animal cages and housing areas to ensure proper care and welfare.
- Feed monitor and observe animals reporting any signs of illness or abnormal behavior.
- Handle and dispose of laboratory specimens and materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment.
- Manage lab inventory and supplies including ordering and restocking as needed.
- Support faculty researchers or students during experiments or instructional activities.
- Operate lab equipment with increasing independence as proficiency develops.
