Inventory Specialist (Full-Time) Mawson Lumber & Hardware
Job Summary
Mawson Lumber and Hardware is a locally owned lumber yard and hardware store in historic Old Town Fort Collins. Weve served the Fort Collins community for nearly a century and we are excited for our team to grow as we seek a dependable and detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to manage and maintain accurate inventory levels at our lumber yard.
This role is critical to ensuring smooth daily operations timely order fulfillment facilitating returns and proper material flow across the yard and warehouse. The ideal candidate has experience working with building materials is comfortable working outdoors takes pride in organization and accuracy and likes being part of a close-knit operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive inspect and verify incoming lumber and building materials
- Accurately enter inventory into the inventory management system
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Organize and label materials throughout the yard and warehouse
- Coordinate with purchasing sales and yard staff to ensure inventory accuracy
- Track damaged returned or obsolete materials in a timely fashion
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries as needed
- Verify material being unloaded is correct to the order
- Maintain a clean safe and organized work environment
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Schedule
- MondayFriday 7:00am5:00pm (up to 1-hour lunch)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous inventory warehouse or lumber yard experience preferred
- Familiarity with lumber sizes grades and building materials
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory software
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Forklift experience or willingness to become certified
- Reliable punctual and team-oriented
Preferred Skills
- Forklift certification
- Experience with cycle counting or inventory audits
- Knowledge of construction or building supply products
- Strong communication skills
