THE ORGANIZATION: Mi Familia Vota (MFV) and Mi Familia en Acción (MFA) are national Latino-led civic engagement organizations working year-round to strengthen democracy and empower our communities.

MFA a 501(c)(3) focuses on nonpartisan programs such as citizenship voter registration voter education and leadership development on key issues including immigration education healthcare voting rights workers rights reproductive rights and the environment.

MFV a 501(c)(4) organization builds Latino political power through advocacy organizing and mobilization to ensure that Latino voices shape the policies that impact their health safety and prosperity.

Together we operate one of the largest Latino civic engagement infrastructures in the country with programs across eight states (Arizona California Nevada Texas Colorado North Carolina Georgia Florida) and Washington D.C.

Position Overview:

Mi Familia Vota is seeking a passionate and experienced Immigration Organizer committed to building power with immigrant communities and communities of color and advancing racial and economic justice campaigns that create real change in our schools neighborhoods and civic life.

The Immigration Organizer will focus on base-building leadership development and advocacy related to immigrant rights education equity and civic engagement. This role works directly with community membersmany of whom are directly impacted by the immigration systemto develop leaders mobilize collective action and support campaigns that advance dignity safety and justice.

The ideal candidate brings experience in grassroots organizing and community leadership development and is skilled at building authentic relationships across diverse communities. This person must be deeply committed to working alongside low-income and working-class families and leaders and have an understanding of the lived realities and organizing conditions within Latinx immigrant and other marginalized communities.

We are seeking an Immigration Organizer who shares our progressive values and is excited to help build and strengthen member-led organizing efforts. This role supports community education coalition-building and campaign work while helping community members grow as leaders and advocates.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build and grow a base of immigrant and community members through outreach canvassing phone/text banking and relationship-building
  • Recruit train and support community leaders and volunteers
  • Support immigrant justice education and civic engagement campaigns
  • Facilitate community education leadership development and skills-building workshops
  • Organize and support actions town halls forums and advocacy events
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings to develop leaders and move members to action
  • Build relationships with community partners coalitions and stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate organization of data and documentation
  • Collaborate with communications and program teams on campaign outreach
  • Participate in electoral organizing and organization-wide efforts as needed
  • Attend evening and weekend activities when required


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in community organizing advocacy or related movement work
  • Strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial economic and immigrant justice
  • Ability to build relationships across diverse communities
  • Highly organized self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable with outreach public speaking and relational organizing
  • Experience with data entry and basic organizing tools (training provided)

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience working with immigrant communities
  • Fluency in languages other than English
  • Familiarity with immigration policy or advocacy
  • Lived experience with or close connection to the immigration system
