We are looking for a high-potential experienced professional to lead the Climate and Energy pillar of our sustainability roadmap. You will drive significant greenhouse gas (GHG) & energy reductions actively manage our global project portfolio and provide the analytical support for our strategy.
What will you do as a Climate & Energy Program Manager / Engineer
The Climate & Energy Program Manager / Engineer reports to the Global Sustainability Manager and is a key member of the Global Safety & Sustainability department. You act as the driver for the Climate and Energy pillar working closely with the Business Units and other Global departments to manage Vopaks global GHG and energy reduction portfolio. The Global Sustainability team is a centralized function within Vopak comprising 4 subject matter experts who support our terminals worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Program Management
Manage the global GHG reduction (scope 1 & 2) roadmap taking the lead on establishing data-driven objectives and KPIs for GHG reduction and energy efficiency.
Develop manage and implement Scope 3 reduction roadmap together with relevant internal stakeholders.
Rigorously track and model Vopaks carbon headroom (Scope 1 & 2) emissions to ensure Vopaks future growth aligns with sustainability ambitions.
Act as the owner of GHG and energy related metrics. You will develop and manage dashboards and KPIs to visualize and track performance.
As the knowledge holder act as the custodian of internal standards and guidelines related to Sustainability GHG and energy management.
Develop and maintain a GHG community and organize regular communication on the progress of the GHG reduction program.
Provide training and education throughout the organization on GHG and Energy management as needed.
2. Global Execution Regulatory & Field Work
Actively manage the global portfolio of GHG & Energy reduction projects. Use data to effectively challenge Business Units on their reduction plans and progress against targets.
You will travel to the terminals to evaluate ground scenarios leading energy audits / assessments and identifying practical reduction opportunities on-site.
Together with the Global Engineering department and Global Assets & Technology department develop and improve standards to ensure the latest technology and best practices to reduce GHG emissions and energy efficiency are included (e.g. vapor treatment heating cooling boilers etc.)
Together with the Global Sustainability Reporting & Control team Vopak meets the rigorous compliance standards of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol as well as European regulations (CSRD CSDDD EU Taxonomy).
What We Expect From You
We are looking for a future leader with a strong academic background who combines technical understanding with analytical excellence.
A University Degree (Bachelor/Master) is required. A background in Engineering (Chemical Process Energy) is preferred but we are open to Finance/Science degrees with strong technical industry experience.
5 years of work experience preferably in an industrial environment sustainability consultancy or process industry.
Knowledge of energy management systems and a basic understanding of industrial energy systems and equipment (e.g. pumps compressors boilers) and vapour handling systems (e.g. combustors and flares)
Proven project management experience.
You are a data-driven person with strong analytical skills. You can build dashboards and KPIs effortlessly. Knowledge of BI tools is a plus.
Familiarity with the GHG Protocol and European sustainability regulations (CSRD CSDDD).
Excellent verbal and writing skills in English. Ability to speak Dutch is nice-to-have but not conditional.
You have a strong passion for sustainability combined with a pragmatic and realistic mindset. You can distinguish essential tasks from daily clutter and work independently.
What We Offer
Market-conform salary (with growth potential) of 85.000 - 115.000 depending on experience plus attractive bonuses.
Hybrid working opportunity at Vopak HQ in Rotterdam.
