The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient-centered care through comprehensive oversight of surgical department operations staffing financial performance and strategic growth initiatives.
This leader fosters a culture of accountability collaboration and clinical excellence while supporting the development and implementation of policies procedures and operational strategies aligned with organizational objectives.

Reports To: Vice President of Operations
Promote evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory accreditation and legal standards.
Oversee equipment maintenance and operational readiness.
Improve patient throughput through effective volume forecasting and care coordination.
Standardize clinical practices to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Direct nursing practice and unit operations to ensure patient and family needs are consistently met.
Lead initiatives to improve and sustain exceptional patient satisfaction.
Utilize patient feedback data to benchmark and enhance service delivery.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to strengthen patient-centered care practices.
Build and sustain a high-performing surgical services team.
Coach mentor and develop managers and staff.
Drive employee engagement and retention strategies.
Ensure appropriate staffing and clinical competency alignment.
Partner with physicians and executive leadership to expand and enhance surgical services.
Identify opportunities for service line growth and technological advancement.
Support strategic initiatives that increase case volume and market differentiation.
Lead annual budgeting process including staffing revenue expenses and capital equipment planning.
Monitor department financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Ensure effective labor management productivity standards and premium pay oversight.
Identify and execute cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
Bachelors Degree in Nursing (Required)
Masters Degree (Preferred)
Minimum 1 year of recent acute care Director-level Surgical Services experience (Required)
Minimum 3 years of acute care Surgical Services leadership experience (Required)
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (or ability to obtain)
Salary Range: $137737 $206606 annually
Compensation based on experience and leadership background
Incentive Bonus: 17.5%
