Job Summary:
Under the direction of a Radiologist the Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. The technologist utilizes independent judgment in positioning technique selection radiation safety and patient care while adhering to departmental protocols and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Explain examination procedures and prepare patients for imaging studies.
Review physician orders and clinical data to determine appropriate radiographic procedures.
Position patients correctly and operate radiographic equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
Administer intravenous contrast media when indicated and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
Apply radiation protection principles and ALARA techniques to minimize exposure.
Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control protocols.
Complete all required documentation in PACS and RIS systems including study indexing and image verification.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation for clinical and billing purposes.
Maintain imaging equipment and ensure adequate supply levels.
Participate in teaching and mentoring of new staff and students when required.
Requirements
Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
Ability to work in various hospital settings including IPD OR ER and mobile units.
Adherence to radiation safety infection control and hospital customer service standards.
Must maintain required continuing education hours.
Education
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Certifications
ARRT-R (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Radiography).
BLS (Healthcare Provider/BCLS).
