This position requires a blend of clinical expertise and technical proficiency for effective use of simulation-based educational modalities. Independently interacts with students during educational experiences designed to enable experiential learning and/or assessment of students skills. Assesses student professionalism knowledge skills and behaviors using standardized measurement tools. Participates in simulation activities including operations. Promote and maintain all departmental duties and responsibilities in accordance with ASPE and SSIH code of ethics and standards of best practice.
The Clinical Simulation Educator plays a vital role in sustaining the quality consistency and accreditation readiness of the Simulation Program. This position supports the delivery of simulationbased instruction performancebased assessment and curriculumaligned experiential learning across multiple healthprofessions programs. Backfilling this role ensures continuity in learner assessment scenario facilitation and data collection necessary for meeting accreditation and institutional expectations.
In addition to direct involvement with learners the Clinical Simulation Educator contributes to the programs key performance indicators (KPIs) assists with accreditation documentation and reporting and supports continuous quality improvement initiatives. These functions are essential to maintaining program compliance demonstrating educational effectiveness and supporting institutional accountability.
By backfilling the Clinical Simulation Educator position the University preserves its ability to deliver highquality experiential learning support faculty maintain standardized assessment processes and produce the outcomes evidence required for accreditation. This role also contributes to scholarly activity research and disseminationstrengthening the programs academic reputation and supporting the mission of advancing experiential healthcare education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate simulationbased educational experiences simulated patient encounters and skillsbased instruction to promote experiential learning and professional skill development.
  • Provide formative feedback and assess student knowledge skills and professional behaviors using validated tools and standardized rubrics.
  • Support faculty in the delivery of simulation activities aligned with program outcomes and accreditation standards.
  • Teach in physical examination and clinical skills labs as needed.
  • Assist with Score One for Health Screenings as needed.
  • Collect track and analyze departmental data contributing to departmentlevel dashboards KPI reporting and continuous quality improvement metrics.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports required for accreditation (e.g. ASPE SSH programmatic accreditors) including documentation outcomes tracking and evidence gathering.
  • Maintain organized and accurate documentation to support program evaluation compliance and outcomes measurement.
  • Participate in departmental research scholarship and dissemination through presentations publications or educational innovation projects.
  • Uphold ASPE and SSH standards of best practice including ethics safety psychological fidelity and appropriate use of simulated patients.
  • Maintain active membership in relevant professional organizations and stay current with developments in simulation pedagogy and assessment science.
  • Participate in professional development. Uphold and maintain any professional licenses and certifications.
  • Assist with daily administrative operation of the center.
  • Support Learning Space suite of video-driven learning and assessment software used in both Simulation and Clinical Exam areas.
  • Support the Laerdal Learning Application suite to program operate and manage highfidelity manikins used throughout the Simulation Center.
  • Assist studentrun clubs with the development scheduling and execution of simulation events ensuring alignment with best practices and safe use of simulation technologies.
  • Communicate with students in a straightforward and positive way.
  • Serve on university committees and participate in community outreach as appointed. Examples include participation in student interview days community service days and community outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of student assessments and records.
  • Represent department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to support departmental and university goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a healthcarerelated field (e.g. health sciences physiology public health allied health biomedical sciences etc.).
  • Three to five years of experience teaching coaching or assessing learners in higher education or healthcare education environments.
  • Experience with simulationbased education performancebased assessment or standardized patient methodology.
  • Strong skills in data organization assessment documentation and educational reporting.
  • Proficiency with basic technology and willingness to learn simulation AV or assessment software programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
