We are seeking a casual occupational therapist to join our Hand Therapy team at The Alfred

Position Description
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Grade 2 Occupational Therapist to join the Hand Therapy in a casual capacity. The successful applicant will apply their knowledge skills and expertise to deliver safe and effective evidence-based care to outpatients in the Hand Therapy clinic.
At a Grade 2 level Occupational Therapists are required to demonstrate autonomy in practice whilst also contributing strongly to the multi-disciplinary team by providing high-quality assessment and intervention for new hand fractures surgical repairs and complex upper limb trauma conditions. The OT will support teach and train Grade 1 OT staff members assistants and students.
Department
The Alfred Hand Therapy Service operates Monday to Friday and is a combination of plastic surgery clinics and standalone appointments. There are opportunities for development in brachial plexus injury burns and acute trauma. This role is aligned to our fracture and post-operative care clinics working in close consultation with the Plastic surgery team.
Essential Knowledge and skills:
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Current Working with Childrens Check
- Minimum three years clinical experience in Occupational Therapy
- Demonstrated clinical skills and awareness of OT clinical practices in hand and upper limb therapy
- Demonstrated ability to design and fabricate custom-made orthoses/splints
- Demonstrated participation in professional development relevant to the position.
- Established skills in organisation planning and priority setting.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork and a proven ability to relate effectively to people at all levels of the organisation
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and modify service delivery in accordance with evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of continuous quality improvement
- Demonstrated skills in clinical supervision and teaching
Desirable but not essential:
- Experience working at a tertiary health setting.
- AHTA membership
