Are you looking for an opportunity to lead a highly trained team of Operations and Maintenance staff and be a part of creating the strategic direction for a complex wastewater treatment system If so the Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) in King County (KC) is hiring a Wastewater Supervisor for the D-Crew Shift Operations team at West Point WWTP. West Point is one of three King County regional wastewater treatment plants that serve to protect water quality and public health in the central Puget Sound region by providing high quality and effective treatment to wastewater collected from our local sewer agencies. We collect and clean wastewater while recovering valuable resources for a healthy and resilient Puget Sound. King Countys wastewater operations staff provides the expertise and dedication required to operate and maintain wastewater treatment and collection facilities to ensure protection of the environment and the health of all King County communities.
As a Wastewater Treatment Supervisor you will be responsible for supervising personnel ensuring compliance with regulations and requirements and performing long-term and short-term workload planning budgeting training and performance addition this position provides technical expertise in the operation and monitoring of all wastewater treatment odor control collection and conveyance system equipment and processes and ensures established safety policies guidelines regulations and workplace standards are maintained and followed.As a Wastewater Treatment Supervisor West Point D-Shift Crew you are expected to be a People Leader to lead and develop your team to align with the County and WTD leaderships goals expectations standards and initiatives. You will be a mentor and guide to those working within your team and those that work with your team.

The O&M facilities are currently undergoing major capital improvements expected to continue over the next 10 years. What YouWillBe Doing:
- Supervising personnel who monitor operate and maintain a wastewater treatment facility and/or collection and conveyance system.
- Plan schedule coordinate monitor and review the daily work of a crew and the long-range planning and scheduling of a crew. Ensure timely completion and quality of work by crew.
- Participate in long-range facilities planning.
- Review and evaluate employee job performance and provide constructive feedback; provide mentoring; recommend and/or initiate disciplinary action.
- Review plans designs or procedures for assigned segment of major construction projects with contractors design engineers vendors and agencys construction management division.
- Organize coordinate and provide technical expertise on long-range special projects; provide direction to senior staff on special projects.
- Assist senior staff in scheduling and prioritizing work orders with other divisions departments and agencies.
- Plan schedule and provide training to others and maintain training records on employees.
- Review laboratory data and recommend and/or make process control decisions.
- Coordinate division department and other agencies responses to unusual occurrences and emergencies; take corrective action as appropriate.
- Ensure adherence to all policies standards and procedures.
- Operate monitor and control equipment and systems using complex computer systems.
- Prepare technical reports of plant operations for submittal to management and state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Assume operational responsibilities in the absence of the Plant Manager for rotating shifts and for other operations.
- Perform the duties of the other classifications within the Wastewater Treatment Operations series as needed.
Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills
What You Bring:
- Wastewater Group III or IV Wastewater certification issued by WA Dept of Ecology.
- Advance level experience operating maintaining and troubleshooting primary wastewater treatment equipment and processes.
- Advance level experience operating maintaining and troubleshooting secondary wastewater treatment equipment and processes.
- Skill in facilitating short-term & long-term workload planning training and performance management.
- Knowledge of the description and function of computerized remote and supervisory control systems used to control operate and monitor a major wastewater treatment system.
- Knowledge of project management techniques and principles
- Experience serving as a technical resource.

Required Licenses:- Washington State Group III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification from the Washington State Department of Ecology or out-of-state equivalency which must be converted to a Washington certification within one year of employment.
- Valid unencumbered Washington State Drivers License
- CPR and first aid certification.
- Must obtain a City of Seattle Boiler Operator Grade III license within 2 years of employment
It Would Be Great if You Also Bring:
- Washington State Group IV or higher Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification from the Washington State Department of Ecology or out-of-state equivalency which must be converted to a Washington certification within one year of employment.

Working Conditions:
Onsite Work Details:This position will follow the respective Shift Schedule for the crew that they are assigned but may be assigned to any shift. Shift crews work two 11.7-hour day shifts followed by two 11.7-hour night shifts followed by four days off. Applicants must be available to work any assigned schedule.
Work Schedule:This is a full-time position you must be available to work nights weekends and holidays. This position works a rotating shift schedule for D Crew. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible. Be available to work all shift schedules including rotating shifts; may be required to be on standby and/or call-out status and subject to after-hours call-ins for unusual occurrences and emergencies.
- Requirement:Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites.
- Union Representation:This position is represented by the Teamster Local 117. Pursuant to Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust $1.00 per hour from the base wage will be submitted to the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust Fund.

Lifting to 50lbs outdoor work.
- Must be able to physically move in and around county worksites such as treatment plants regulator stations pump stations to observe work and participate in work and project planning.
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights weekends and holidays if temporarily assigned to shift or during an emergency
- Ability to work during adverse and inclement weather conditions.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces climb in and out of tanks using ladders and work around noxious odors heat and high noise levels.
- Must be able drive unencumbered to different locations throughout the service area as required.
- Workplace Exposures: Regularly exposure to chemicals noise confined space respirator use and viral contaminants
