The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Sport Fish RTS is recruiting for a permanent
full-time Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst 2 located in Anchorage Alaska!
What You Will Be Doing:
As a GIS Analyst under general supervision your primary responsibility will be the annual revision to the Alaska Department of Fish & Games (ADF&G) Anadromous Waters Catalog (AWC) a geodatabase that identifies water bodies important for the spawning rearing and migration of anadromous fishes. You will review and process hundreds of nominations annually perform spatial edits update metadata and produce digital maps and data layers for statewide addition you will provide GIS support through mapping services data analysis and technical assistance to staff throughout the division and department.Our Mission Values and Culture:

The Anadromous Fish Act (Alaska Statute 16.05.871) directs the Department to specify water bodies important for the spawning rearing and migration of anadromous fish. The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The position is based out of the Anchorage Fish & Game Office on Raspberry Road. The work environment is task-oriented with a manageable pace that supports high-quality focused productivity with some primary duties occurring on a yearly schedule with deadlines. The work schedule can be flexible and the incumbent will be part of a small collaborative team and occasionally working closely with other staff to develop solutions to a variety of tasks and projects.
If participating in field work the position requires that the incumbent be capable of possessing and utilizing firearms. Prior to entering the field the successful applicant will be required to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications and participate in ADF&G Wildlife and Firearm safety classes.
Work may involve exposure to animals insects and inclement weather low level flying in planes and helicopters travel by boat or skiff or contact with drugs and chemicals. Housing may consist of bunkhouses vessels or wall tents and may require shared rooms with other field crew members.
