Position Summary: The RN Progressive Care delivers specialized nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring complex assessments and timely clinical interventions within a progressive care setting. This role manages patients with evolving medical conditions supporting stabilization early recognition of clinical deterioration and safe transitions between levels of care. Working collaboratively with physicians respiratory therapists and interdisciplinary team members the RN helps coordinate treatment plans that promote recovery and continuity of care. As part of a supportive team-oriented environment this position provides consistent communication patient and family education and advocacy to help individuals understand their condition and prepare for discharge or ongoing care. Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive assessments and continuous monitoring of patients with moderate to high acuity needs responding promptly to changes in clinical status. Coordinate individualized care plans with providers and interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes and safe progression of care. Administer medications treatments and therapies in accordance with established protocols and evaluate patient responses. Maintain accurate timely documentation of assessments interventions and care coordination activities within the electronic health record. Collaborate with respiratory therapy care management and other departments to support complex care needs diagnostic evaluations and safe transitions. Participate in quality safety and practice-improvement initiatives that enhance progressive care services and unit performance.
Licenses and Certifications Required Current or temporary RN license in North Dakota or compact RN licensure. BLS certification required within orientation period. Specialty certification in area of practice is desirable. Educational Requirements RN program as evidenced by licensure. Official diploma or transcript from the school/university from where degree was received. Experience Requirements Hospital experience is preferred but not required. Special Skills or Training Requirements As required by specific units. Physical Requirements: The RN Progressive Care frequently stands walks bends and moves throughout the unit while providing direct patient care. The role requires assisting with patient mobility repositioning transferring and operating clinical equipment which may involve moderate physical exertion and team lifting. Adequate vision hearing manual dexterity and communication skills are necessary for monitoring patients administering treatments and responding effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Environmental Requirements: This position functions in an acute care setting with regular exposure to infectious diseases bodily fluids medical equipment and clinical cleaning agents.
