Job Summary
Job Description:
Responsible for maintenance repair and overhauling of mechanical equipment in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) to ensure smooth and uninterrupted production operations. The role involves preventive maintenance breakdown maintenance and equipment alignment in high-temperature industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance & Repairs
Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of SMS mechanical equipment.
Repair and overhaul gearboxes pumps valves conveyors hydraulic systems and pneumatic systems.
Attend emergency breakdowns and restore equipment within minimum downtime.
Replace bearings seals couplings chains and sprockets.
2. Equipment Handling (SMS Area)
Maintain EOT cranes ladle cars transfer cars and conveyor systems.
Maintain equipment related to induction furnace / electric arc furnace (EAF).
Work on continuous casting machine (CCM) mechanical components.
Maintain cooling bed systems and material handling equipment.
3. Installation & Alignment
Carry out alignment of motors and pumps.
Perform shaft alignment using dial gauges or laser alignment tools.
Assist in installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
4. Safety & Compliance
Follow safety standards and PPE requirements in high-temperature zones.
Ensure safe handling of tools and heavy equipment.
Adhere to company SOPs and maintenance documentation procedures.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain maintenance logs and job cards.
Report recurring issues to supervisors.
Assist in spare parts planning and inventory monitoring.
Required Qualifications
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
78 years of experience in Steel Melting Shop (SMS) or heavy industry.
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read mechanical drawings.
Key Skills

Bearing replacement & gearbox maintenance

Knowledge of SMS equipment maintenance
