The Post and Courier Americas second oldest newspaper and winner of the Pulitzer Prize is seeking an Editortial Page Editor for its Charleston SC this role you will efficiently manage the accurate timely release of editorial pages and stories.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Rejecting writing that appears to be plagiarized published elsewhere or of little interest to readers.
- Contributing editorial pieces.
- Motivating and developing editorial staff.
- Ensuring the final draft is complete and there are no omissions.
- Handling reader complaints and taking responsibility for issues after publication.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements minimum education level and experience:
- BS in journalism or relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in copy editing/page design.
- Experience with editorial layout systems.
- Experience with software used for page design/copy editing (InDesign InCopy etc.)
- Management Experience required.
- Solid understanding of editorial style and guidelines (AP Style).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a faced paced environment under the pressure of strict deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
