Job Summary
Position: Cable Locator
Location: Field-based Grawn MI
Our Cable Locator plays a critical frontline role in protecting the safety of our members contractors and infrastructure. This position ensures underground electric facilities are accurately located and marked in accordance with MISS DIG and Cooperative standards. Every locate helps prevent outages protects lives and property and preserves the reliability our 40000 members depend on.
This isnt just spray paint and flags. Its infrastructure protection regulatory compliance and public safety.

What Youll Do

Receive and prioritize locate requests through MISS DIG systems
Organize daily routes to meet regulatory timelines efficiently
Accurately mark underground electric facilities in compliance with MISS DIG and Cooperative standards
Maintain positive working relationships with contractors and members
Utilize NISC and related systems to support documentation and operational workflow
Assist with mapping verification and field checks as needed
Uphold all safety standards and regulatory requirements

Youll spend much of your day in the field managing your route and priorities without constant supervision.

Communicates professionally.
You interact with contractors and members regularly and represent the Cooperative with clarity and respect.
Is comfortable working outdoors year-round.
Northern Michigan weather doesnt pause infrastructure work - and neither do we.
Is dependable when it counts.
Regulatory timelines and member safety require consistency and reliability.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Valid drivers license
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to learn and maintain proficiency in MISS DIG NISC and related systems
Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Grawn MI
Must be willing to submit to a nationwide criminal background check
