Founded in 1924 and located in Seattles Madison Valley neighborhood The Bush School is an independent school serving students from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. Summer Program Geometry Faculty (Seattle WA)

Work Schedule: June 29 2026 July 24 2026 (not including July 3 2026)

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Summer Program team as a Geometry Faculty member. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the schools mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. We are building a team in which diversity of experiences backgrounds and talents are valued in order to work with a diverse community of students faculty staff and families. The Summer Program Geometry Teacher reports to the Summer Program Manager and works closely with students and families as well as the Summer Program Manager and Math Department Chair. This position will be responsible for teaching a Geometry course Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm beginning on June 29 2026 and ending on July 24 2026 (not including Friday July 3 2026 as it is a school observed holiday).

While other duties may be assigned a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks listed below:

  • Teach eighth ninth and tenth grade students mathematics in an environment where students are challenged and encouraged to learn
  • Create and sustain a positive classroom culture based on the mission and values of the school
  • Plan prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
  • Utilize developmentally appropriate teaching methods materials and workload expectations for students in grades nine through twelve
  • Have a broad and deep content understanding that is accessible to students
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging content in this field
  • Enhance curriculum and student engagement with relevant lessons guided practice and age-appropriate technologies
  • Value and incorporate diverse perspectives in daily interactions and within the curriculum
  • Develop a responsive student-centered classroom community that fosters engagement inquiry risk-taking and confidence while being a comfortable environment for students
  • Adapt instructional methods and differentiate instruction as needed in collaboration with learning support colleagues
  • Partner with parents and communicate effectively about course expectations challenges and successes
  • Provide documented feedback midcourse July 11 and at end of class July 25
  • Give regular small assessments for mid-course feedback and give end of course final that determines advancement to the next course
  • Conscientiously complete other duties as assigned

Experience and Professional Competencies:

  • Experience teaching Mathematics is required (middle school and/or high school preferred)
  • A bachelors degree is required (a degree in mathematics or education with a math focus is preferred)
  • A graduate degree is preferred

Successful candidates will have:

  • Possess a philosophy of education that aligns with the schools mission and values
  • Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with others including administrators colleagues staff and parents/guardians in order to maintain constructive and professional relationships
  • Complete work in a timely and thorough manner and be conscientious about assignments and deadlines
  • Be patient and positive and find joy in the journey of promoting a lifelong love of learning
  • Have proficient skills in the use of technology including but not limited to Mac or Windows OS Microsoft 365 Google Workspace and relevant cloud-based tools

Additional Requirements:

  • Have a current Adult and Children CPR First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)
  • Meet the schools standards when completing two separate background screenings

Compensation/Benefit Information for this position:

  • This temporary term-limited position is a stipend position that is paid a total of $7980 for instructing the entire program and finalizing grading.
