About the team and role:

We are the Selling Engineering Team at eBay! We are seeking a dedicated creative and hard-working Senior Software Development Lead to help drive a highly skilled backend engineering this role you will architect design and develop innovative high-performance highly available software in the form of web services and applications across various device form factors. These solutions enable business sellers worldwide to onboard manage inventory and listings and grow their business on one of the worlds largest global marketplaces.

This position is vital to improving eBays selling experience and delivering meaningful impact to sellers globally.

You will play a key role in driving the adoption of AI improving code quality elevating engineering best practices and helping build the next generation of eBays selling platform.

Strong technical leadership a collaborative mindset high energy and a focus on performance reliability scalability and accuracy are essential as this work sits at the very top of the funnel for eBays global e-commerce ecosystem.

What you will accomplish:

• Provide technical leadership in designing crossdata center distributed fault-tolerant highly available and performant web services and applications
  

• Contribute hands-on to architecture design and development using strong OOA/D skills and problem-solving abilities
  

• Partner closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions
  

• Help foster a strong engineering culture centered on innovation collaboration and execution excellence
  

• Contribute to technical strategy and drive projects end-to-end from design through development testing deployment and support
  

• Champion adoption of AI and modern engineering practices
  

• Improve coding standards mentor engineers and support talent growth
  

• Estimate engineering effort plan implementations and support system rollouts
  

• Identify technical risks and contribute to mitigation strategies
  

What you will bring:

• 12 years of software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership (informal or formal)
  

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience with a strong background in building scalable distributed systems and internet-scale applications
  

• Proven track record of contributing to and leading the development of highly used web applications
  

• Strong execution skills with the ability to drive work through influence and collaboration
  

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across technical and cross-functional teams
  

• Deep hands-on experience with Java Spring framework GraphQL services design patterns OOA/D data structures REST JSON and internet protocols
  

• Strong foundation in data structures algorithms multithreading synchronization and concurrent programming
  

• Experience contributing to system design architecture discussions and delivering projects end-to-end
  

• Ability to produce well-documented design docs and actively participate in code reviews and development
  

• Strong collaboration skills across distributed teams and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  

• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and modern web technologies
  

• Experience with non-functional requirements such as security performance scalability accessibility and site optimization
