The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for evaluating treating and caring for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. The RRT works with patients of all ages in hospitals clinics and other healthcare settings to provide respiratory care services and support medical teams.
Assess evaluate and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions
Administer oxygen therapy aerosol medications and breathing treatments
Manage and monitor ventilators and other life-support equipment
Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpret results
Conduct pulmonary function tests and other diagnostic procedures
Assist with airway management including intubation and suctioning
Educate patients and families on respiratory care and equipment use
Collaborate with physicians nurses and healthcare teams to develop care plans
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in EMR systems
Ensure compliance with hospital policies safety standards and infection control protocols
