We are seeking an experienced Automotive Emergency Vehicles Sales Engineer to join our team in Texas. This role blends technical expertise in emergency vehicle systems with commercial sales responsibilities. The successful candidate will provide technical pre-sales support develop tailored vehicle solutions for emergency services customers and build strong relationships with fleet managers municipal and commercial clients and upfitters across the region.
Key Responsibilities Sales Technical Support & Client Engagement
Identify and qualify new business opportunities for emergency response vehicles and upfitting solutions through proactive market engagement client meetings and tender responses.
Provide technical sales support and consultancy during the proposal and specification stages translating client requirements into compliant costed vehicle and equipment solutions.
Prepare and deliver clear technical presentations product demonstrations and solution workshops to clients fleet managers consultants and internal stakeholders to influence specification and procurement decisions.
Produce and review technical documentation including vehicle equipment schedules wiring diagrams scope of works and specification sheets for bids and projects.
Conduct site visits and fleet surveys to verify conditions identify constraints and recommend practical upfit configurations or modifications.
Collaborate with engineering production and procurement teams to ensure proposed solutions are buildable compliant with applicable vehicle and safety standards and delivered within commercial targets.
Respond to RFIs/RFPs with technically accurate and commercially competitive proposals; support contract negotiations and scope clarifications.
Manage relationships with manufacturers vendors and upfit partners to obtain technical data equipment quotes and ensure supply chain alignment with project requirements.
Support commissioning and handover activities by providing technical guidance on system operation testing and acceptance criteria where required.
Maintain awareness of industry standards codes and best practice for emergency vehicle equipment electrics lighting sirens and vehicle conversions applicable in Texas and the wider US market.
Essential Skills Selling Technical Knowledge & Communication
Selling skills: Proven ability to identify customer needs develop value propositions and close technical sales for vehicles fleet services or specialist equipment.
Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of emergency vehicle systems including electrical systems lighting sirens communications HVAC for vehicles mounting and storage solutions.
Technical knowledge: Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations (e.g. FMVSS SAE NFPA where applicable) and ability to apply them to vehicle specification and upfit design.
Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to clients fleet managers and internal teams.
Communication skills: Competence in preparing professional commercial proposals technical submittals and concise bid responses.
IT literacy: Proficiency with MS Office; experience with vehicle wiring diagrams CAD or fleet-management software and basic electrical calculation tools is advantageous.

Minimum 46 years experience in automotive sales emergency vehicles or technical upfitting roles with demonstrable experience supporting tender bids and client-facing activities.
Proven track record in technical sales or pre-sales for vehicles fleet services or specialist equipment for emergency services utilities or municipal fleets.
Knowledge of US vehicle regulations and industry standards is highly desirable.
Willingness and ability to travel to client sites vehicle yards and manufacturing locations across Texas and neighboring areas as required.
