Focus: Configurable Platform Components
Role Purpose:
The Agile Business / Functional Analyst (BA/FA) translates business capabilities into configurable platform components instead of isolated feature implementations. The role ensures that product requirements are modeled as reusable parameter-driven capabilities aligned with platform architecture security and scalability standards.
The BA/FA operates within a Scrum team and collaborates closely with the Product Owner Architect and Engineering to maximize configurability reuse and long-term platform leverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate business objectives into structured functional capability models.
- Design configurable solution patterns (rules parameters workflows entitlements).
- Define variation logic instead of custom feature specifications.
- Prepare high-quality backlog items aligned with Definition of Ready.
- Maintain traceability from business capability to configuration model to implementation.
- Promote configuration over customization and avoid functional duplication.
- Facilitate requirement workshops and align business and technical stakeholders.
- Ensure non-functional requirements (security performance compliance) are embedded.
Deliverables:
- Capability models and functional domain maps.
- Structured user stories with rule-based acceptance criteria.
- Configuration matrices and parameter catalogs.
- Business rule documentation.
- Process models (e.g. BPMN where appropriate)
Key interfaces:
- Product Owner prioritization and value alignment.
- Chief/Platform Architect target architecture and configuration model.
- Engineering Team refinement and clarification.
- Operations deployment and configuration governance.
- Functional impact assessments
Required competencies
- Strong analytical and modeling capability.
- Experience in configurable or multi-tenant platform environments.
- Knowledge of rule engines workflow systems or parameter-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with agile frameworks (e.g. Scrum).
- Systems thinking and structured documentation skills.
- Strong stakeholder facilitation and communication skills.
