About the Role

Were looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design build and scale the backend systems that power the Made Card and homeowner platform. Youll work across the full lifecycle of backend development - from gathering requirements and designing architecture to implementation testing and ongoing maintenance. This is a role for someone who thrives in building distributed systems mentoring others and ensuring reliability at scale in a fast-moving startup environment.

What Youll Do

• System Design & Development: Design and implement scalable backend endpoints and distributed systems using Python.

• Database Modeling: Build and optimize data models across Postgres DynamoDB and Redis.

• Architecture & APIs: Define and deliver APIs and backend services that support mobile (Flutter) and web (React/) applications.

• Infrastructure: Work with Kubernetes Docker and AWS to ensure reliable deployment monitoring and scaling.

• Feature Delivery: Own the full software lifecycle - requirements design development QA deployment and maintenance.

• Performance & Reliability: Ensure backend services are performant secure and highly available.

• Collaboration: Partner with product frontend and design teams to deliver end-to-end features.

• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to raising the engineering bar.

Ideal Background

• 58 years of backend engineering experience including senior-level responsibilities.

• Strong proficiency in Python with experience building distributed applications.

• Expertise in database modeling and experience with Postgres DynamoDB and Redis.

• Solid understanding of RESTful services and API design.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes Docker and AWS for infrastructure and deployment.

• Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures algorithms best practices).

• Track record of delivering high-quality well-structured performant code.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional environment.
