Blank Childrens Hospital

Blank Childrens Hospital a service of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines is completelydedicated to meeting the unique health care needs of children. Blank Childrens is a 108-bed environment that embraces and encourages families to be a part of their childs healing and recovery. Everything from equipment to decor is designed specifically for children.

Provides routine care and management of hospitalized patients in the newborn nursery (level 1 and 2) at Methodist West and Trinity Fort Dodge as well as inpatient pediatric coverage in both Des Moines and Trinity

• This position is a 1.0 FTE requiring a 1840 hours per year with a rotating schedule that includes a mix of day and night shifts. Specific locations depend on operational needs
• Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary
• Documents findings in accurate systematic form and maintains appropriate documentation in the EMR
• Utilizes data to identify areas of improvement monitor progress and design/implement initiatives which can make a positive impact on the care of newborn or inpatient pediatric patients
• Accepts responsibility to maintain and developing own skill and knowledge in the clinical area of expertise - pediatrics and newborn care
• Provides specialty specific patient-family teaching and counseling based on needs and in collaboration with the care team
• Effectively communicates and interacts with patients families staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds

• PNP-AC
• One or more years of experience as a nurse in pediatrics preferred
• Current Iowa License to practice as a Registered Nurse and as an ARNP
• Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
• NRP & PALS
• Valid drivers license
