The position offers a challenging role in a dynamic and friendly team environment. We are looking for a level 2 Wintel Engineer based in Melbourne on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be working with a team of support engineers to provide proactive server support to the Defence customer. You will be working with technologies including VMWare vCenter VROPS SRM CISCO UCS Nutanix and Windows. You will also work with application support teams to diagnose issue between applications and the operating system.

To be considered for this role you will need to hold a current NV1 or NV2.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake technical deliverables with a focus on hypervisors operating systems and their interaction with applications
  • Have the ability to work within a 0700-1900 Monday to Friday roster
  • Have the ability to work on an oncall roster
  • Support the client when required with paid overtime
  • Support Microsoft Server solutions and designs.
  • Implement and support virtualised server environments across a global network.
  • Perform daily health checks and resolve
  • Monitor issue resolution to ensure issues are resolved within a timely manner.
  • Assist with system changes updates upgrades and relocations.
  • Compile technical documentation where required.
  • Fully comply with customer training and security requirements
  • Perform tasks within a formal problem management process

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server versions up to and including Server 2022 in an enterprise environment.
  • Understanding of Active Directory.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience with Virtualisation technologies including VMWare and Nutanix technologies in both an operating and troubleshooting capacity.
  • MS Windows Server administration.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft patching via common tools such as WSUS/SCCM/MECM.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Good communication organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Have a good understanding of ITIL including the Incident Problem and Change Processes.
  • Organisational skills and ability to mentor junior team members as required.
