Job Summary (List Format):
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients before during and after angiography cardiac catheterization and other diagnostic/interventional cardiac procedures.
- Perform pre-procedure assessments administer pre-medication document catheterization processes and deliver post-procedure care.
- Educate patients regarding procedures and post-care.
- Assist in various cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures including stress echocardiograms treadmill exams nuclear/pharmacologic stress tests tilt table tests echocardiograms cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms.
- Prepare patients and assist with interventional radiology procedures ensuring patient safety through evaluation and monitoring.
- Administer sedation and monitor patients in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Apply monitoring devices such as Holter monitors event monitors ambulatory blood pressure monitors and perform pacemaker interrogations.
- Insert PICC lines and act as a vascular access expert.
- Operate and manage specialized cardiac equipment (hemodynamic monitors intraaortic balloon pumps pacemakers/ICDs crash cart IV pumps defibrillators glucometers stress machines and TEE equipment).
- Scrub in and assist physicians during procedures as needed.
- Record all relevant procedure information and data accurately.
- Develop review and update cardiovascular educational materials and programs.
- Fulfill other assigned tasks as necessary by the manager.
- Participate in on-call rotation (10 days per month) covering IR/Vascular and STEMI cases (weekends for call only).
- Maintain required certifications and active Michigan RN license.
Experience and Certification Requirements:
- Required: Cath Lab RN experience 1 years electrophysiology experience active Michigan RN license AHA BLS and ACLS certifications recent skills checklist and supervisory references.
- Preferred: Interventional Radiology experience cardiac rhythm interpretation intraaortic balloon pump operation travel RN experience Epic EMR proficiency.
- Not eligible if local (within 50-mile radius).
