Litigation Associate Toxic Tort Defense

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated Litigation Associate (2 5 years) to join our growing asbestos and toxic tort defense practice in Providence. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level attorney who is ready to take ownership of cases gain meaningful courtroom experience and work on complex high-exposure matters.

In this role you will be actively involved in all phases of litigation from initial case assessment through discovery depositions motion practice and trial preparation. You will work closely with experienced litigators while developing the independence and strategic judgment necessary to manage files with confidence.

This position is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced defense environment and is looking to deepen their experience in toxic tort asbestos and complex product liability litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of litigation including written discovery depositions motion practice and trial preparation
  • Draft pleadings dispositive motions discovery requests and responses and legal memoranda
  • Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses corporate representatives and expert witnesses
  • Conduct thorough legal research and present analysis in a clear organized manner
  • Appear in court for hearings case management conferences and mediations
  • Assist with trial preparation including exhibit management witness preparation and strategy development
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop and implement effective defense strategies
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive and responsive communication
  • Effectively manage deadlines and multiple active cases

Qualifications:

  • Bar Admission: Admitted and in good standing in Rhode Island (Required); admission in Connecticut strongly preferred; Massachusetts admission a plus
  • Experience: 2 5 years of litigation experience; prior asbestos toxic tort or product liability defense experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated deposition and motion practice experience
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
