Position Summary
Hospice of South Texas is seeking a reliable and compassionate Dietary/Housekeeping Aide to support our inpatient care center. This position assists with meal preparation and dietary services while maintaining a clean sanitary and safe environment for hospice patients families and staff.
The ideal candidate is dependable team-oriented and committed to providing excellent service in a healthcare setting.
Primary Responsibilities
Dietary Duties
- Assist with food preparation and meal service for hospice patients
- Follow food safety sanitation and storage standards
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and food preparation areas
- Help monitor food inventory and reduce supply waste
Housekeeping / Environmental Services Duties
- Clean and sanitize patient rooms bathrooms and common areas
- Maintain a safe neat and orderly care environment
- Follow infection control and safety protocols
- Dispose of waste according to healthcare regulations
Team Support
- Communicate professionally with patients families and staff
- Assist with additional duties as assigned
- Maintain compliance with Hospice of South Texas policies and regulatory standards
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Current Texas Food Handler Certification required
Experience
- 13 years of dietary or housekeeping experience preferred
- Healthcare or hospice experience preferred
Licensure & Transportation
- Valid Texas Drivers License required
- Reliable transportation and current auto insurance required
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism in sensitive environments
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing walking bending kneeling and reaching
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in healthcare environments with exposure to illnesses and interruptions
- Ability to work flexible or irregular hours if needed
