Role Purpose

The Neighbourhood Group Worker is responsible for delivering a programme of highquality groups and courses for children young people and their families across Family Hubs community venues and schools. The postholder will contribute to improving outcomes for families by supporting learning development wellbeing and positive engagement within the local community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Plan deliver and evaluate a range of group activities and courses for families including antenatal support newborn sessions early years development activities and programmes for children aged 511.

Facilitate sessions that promote emotional health and wellbeing healthy lifestyles school readiness and smooth transitions between educational stages.

Provide targeted support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and for those with early speech language and communication needs.

Build positive professional relationships with children young people and families to encourage participation and sustained engagement.

Maintain accurate records including attendance data session plans evaluations and other required documentation.

Produce highquality resources such as handouts information materials and public display content to support learning and promote services.

Use IT systems effectively to support planning communication monitoring and reporting requirements.

Work collaboratively with colleagues partners and external agencies to ensure coordinated support for families.

Uphold safeguarding responsibilities in line with organisational policies and statutory requirements.

Essential Criteria

Experience of working directly with children young people and families in community educational or early years settings.

Ability to plan and deliver engaging group activities that support learning and development.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse families.

Competent IT skills including the ability to record data produce resources and use digital systems confidently.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Understanding of safeguarding principles and the ability to follow relevant procedures.

Desirable Criteria

Knowledge of early childhood development emotional wellbeing or family support approaches.

Experience supporting children with SEND or early communication needs.

Experience working within Family Hubs schools or communitybased services.
